[Me] Do You Like Your Food to Touch?

I had a stupid, yet interesting...nay, fascinating, conversation with my business partner about how we eat food. It all stemmed from a scene from the movie, Toys, in which L.L. Cool J. expresses his feelings about food touching.

Here's the deal. Some people don't like their food to touch. Steak can't touch mashed potatoes, for example. I was never that person. The idea that food can't be eaten, or at the very least, enjoyed, if they are touching really put my brain in a boggle.

And that got me thinking about the process by which a person enjoys his/her meal. For instance (and this came up in my conversation), how do you eat a pot pie? Well, my business partner says she's never eaten a pot pie, but my friend, Verso said this:

"I peel off the top, then wait a bit for the cooling to happen, then dip the crust in the sauce, then eat the inside, then eat the outer crust..."

Me, I used to kind of slice into the pie and enjoy the chunks. My old boss from back in the retail days breaks up the crust and stirs everything together to form a kind of dough-y, stewy mix. Nothing wrong with any method, but there is a difference in how the food tastes...kind of.

Without turning this trivial blog post into a novel, here are some questions that came up (along with my personal answers):

"How do you eat a burger?" (I tend to work in a circle so the last bite is somewhere in the middle of the burger)

"How do you put your burger down?" (I put my burger sesame-side down on the plate and pick it up underhanded so it's sesame side up when it reaches my mouth. I noticed others keed the sesame side up at all times.)

"How do you eat nachos?" (I used to eat them in such a way that the last chip would have the proper amount of topping; now I leave chips)

"How do you peel the foil off of a burrito (the tacqueria "dry" kind, not on a plate)?" (I peel the foil off to about the halfway point, then peel about one-inch segments as I work my way down.)

Any comments to this silly post? Have at it.

UPDATE: Verso provided her own answers to the questions.
